Get the Most out of Therapy

What to Expect

You did the hard part, you reached out. Now you're scheduled, and I want to make sure you know what to expect so your first session feels less daunting.

The most important thing you can do is show up exactly as you are, not with a prepared speech or script, not with your thoughts perfectly organized. Just you.

Therapy doesn't have to be perfect to work.

Here's what helps people get the most out of this process:

Healing isn't linear. Some sessions will feel like relief (you'll leave lighter, clearer). Other sessions might leave you feeling raw or stirred up. Both are normal. The work isn't always comfortable, but it's always moving you somewhere.

You don't need to perform. This is your space to be messy, tired, frustrated, or confused. You don't owe us polish or gratitude. Just honesty.

Tell us when something doesn't land right. This is the big one. If you feel disconnected, misunderstood, or frustrated with your therapist—say it. Repairing those moments is often where the deepest healing happens. We don't take it personally. We want to know.

Consistency builds momentum. Most people start with weekly or biweekly sessions, then find their rhythm with their therapist from there. Booking a few weeks ahead helps you lock in the time slot that works best for your schedule and nervous system.

You don't have to fix everything in session one. You just have to start.

The Practical Stuff

Insurance, booking, and
what you need to know

Insurance & Fees

Most of our therapists can direct bill major insurance providers including Canada Life, Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield, and Chamber of Commerce plans. Since coverage varies by plan, we recommend checking with your provider to see what's included. You'll be responsible for any costs not covered by insurance.

Session fees vary by therapist. You can view current rates on our Counselling Fees page.

  • "I've booked with many different therapists all across the city over the years, but seeing Arynne at Bridge Counseling is the first time, especially as a queer woman, that I've ever felt so safe, heard, and supported."

  • " Just moved to Saskatoon and was looking for a new therapist. Came to Bridge Counselling and I am seeing Paige H. She has been incredible for me! She is so intelligent and knowledgeable in her field and she helps me understand myself better. I’ve only had 2 sessions with her but I’m already seeing her impact on me. Highly recommend Bridge Counselling and Paige! "
