Approach to Counselling

I have a decade of experience working with children and adolescents in various settings and I draw from several different approaches to fit my client’s needs. These approaches include mindfulness and grounding techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My therapeutic perspective is grounded in a person-centred, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to care. I believe every emotion and behavior serves a purpose for that individual.

In addition to the approaches outlined above, I utilize play, creativity, and art in session. These techniques help to create a safe space for my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space for my clients to begin their therapeutic journey.

My approach when working with young children includes incorporating the parent and/or caregiver in sessions to strengthen the child-parent/caregiver connection and offer strategies to utilize at home.
